Muscatine County Attorney Alan R. Ostergren provided the following update to the investigation of the robbery of a hotel in Muscatine on Sunday, November 22, 2015:
Last night, November 23, 2015, detectives with the Muscatine Police Department arrested TIMOTHY WADDEN, 35, of Muscatine in connection with the robbery investigation. WADDEN has been charged with robbery in the first degree, a class "B" felony. The offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term not to exceed 25 years. The criminal complaint alleges that WADDEN brandished a firearm at the hotel front desk clerk and demanded money.
"I would like to thank the many members of the public who provided information to the police," said Ostergren. "Tips came in rapidly after the Muscatine police put information on Facebook about the robbery. This is a great example of using social media in a positive way."
WADDEN appeared before a judge this morning for initial appearance. The Court set his bond at $750,000 cash only. He remains in the Muscatine County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 4, 2015, at 9:00 a.m.
The investigation into the robbery is ongoing. No further information will be released at this time. The criminal charge against WADDEN is merely an accusation. He is presumed innocent.
