Muscatine County District Court 10/3/2014

Today in Muscatine County District Court:


THOMAS HUNTER, III, DOB: 9/27/1975, of Muscatine, was sentenced after pleading guilty to Domestic Abuse Assault. Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that HUNTER had manually strangled his live-in girlfriend and caused a bodily injury. The Court imposed a prison sentence of not to exceed five years.

CHYNNA DAVIS, DOB: 5/25/1992, of Muscatine, was sentenced after pleading guilty to Delivery of a Simulated Controlled Substance. Investigation by the Muscatine County Drug Task Force showed that DAVIS engaged in a transaction in which she sold a half-ounce of purported cocaine. The Court imposed a prison sentence of not to exceed ten years. The Court additionally found that DAVIS had violated the terms of probation in a previous drug trafficking felony case. DAVIS was ordered to serve both prison sentences.

TAYLOR DEWAYNE HEMM, DOB: 8/25/1995, of Muscatine pleaded guilty to Burglary in the Third Degree. Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that HEMM broke into a house and stole copper pipe and wire. He will be sentenced November 14, 2014, at 9:45 a.m.

PATRICK BURNS, DOB: 7/20/1974, of Muscatine, pleaded guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. BURNS was the operator of a motor vehicle which was stopped by a Muscatine Police Officer for an equipment violation. The officer determined that BURNS did not have a valid driver's license. A Muscatine County Sheriff's Deputy used a police dog to check the vehicle for the presence of illegal drugs. The car was searched after the dog alerted and the defendant was found to be in possession of approximately eight grams of methamphetamine. BURNS will be sentenced November 14, 2014, at 9:30 a.m.
