DAVID HUERTA, DOB: 12/26/1977, of Muscatine was sentenced after pleading guilty to Domestic Abuse Assault, third offense. The court imposed a prison sentence of not to exceed five years. The defendant must serve one year of incarceration prior to being eligible for parole. Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that HUERTA assaulted and caused injuries to his girlfriend. He had two prior convictions for domestic abuse offenses within the previous 12 years.

ANGEL GONZALEZ, DOB: 10/21/1993, of Muscatine, pleaded guilty to Lascivious Acts with a Child and Indecent Contact with a Child. Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that he had been involved in sexual contact with a person under the age of 14. He will be sentenced January 9, 2015, at 9:15 a.m. He faces a maximum of 12 years imprisonment for the offenses.
DANIEL CONSTANTINE BRATCHER, DOB: 3/20/1968, of Muscatine was sentenced after being found guilty at jury trial of Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse. The court imposed a prison term of not to exceed two years. The defendant will additionally be required to register as a sex offender for life and will be on parole for 10 years following his prison sentence.
MORRIS ANTHONY NUNN, DOB: 9/24/1966, of Muscatine was sentenced after pleading guilty to Eluding, Operating While Intoxicated, and Driving While Revoked. The Court imposed a prison term totaling six years. The defendant had attempted to elude a Muscatine County Sheriff's Deputy and was intoxicated at the time. He was found on a separate occasion to be driving on a revoked license.

Charges Filed in Armed Robbery
Muscatine County Attorney Alan R. Ostergren announced today, November 20, 2014, that charges have been filed in connection with a robbery on November 19, 2014. Detectives with the Muscatine Police Department today arrested WILLIAM LEE HARTMAN, DOB: 7/10/1979 without incident. HARTMAN has been charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Using a Juvenile to Commit a Public Offense. The charges are punishable by a total sentence of not to exceed 35 years.
The criminal complaints allege that HARTMAN committed a theft in the 200 block of Walnut Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. on November 19, 2014, by assaulting the victim. The complaints further allege that HARTMAN used a juvenile accomplice to commit the offense and that a knife was displayed and the victim was threatened with being killed.
HARTMAN will be held without bond in the Muscatine County Jail pending initial appearance tomorrow morning.
The criminal charges set forth above are merely accusations. The defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence in the criminal justice system.

Prison sentence for theft of motor vehicle
Today, October 24, 2014, in Muscatine County District Court:
JEFFREY ALAN WURR, DOB: 2/1/1981, of Atalissa, was sentenced following his guilty plea to Theft in the First Degree. The Court imposed a prison sentence of not to exceed ten years and ordered the sentence to be served consecutively to a prison sentence in Cedar County of not to exceed seven years.
The prosecution of WURR was the result of an investigation by the Muscatine County Sheriff's Office into the theft of a motor vehicle from near West Liberty, Iowa. Deputies learned that the truck had been used to travel to a truck stop off of interstate 80 near Atalissa where WURR and another subject attempted to commit a robbery.

Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that GRIFFIN struck another male subject and caused a broken jaw. GRIFFIN waived time to delay sentencing and was sentenced by the Court to an indeterminate term of not to exceed ten years.

Life sentence for sexual abuse
Today, October , 2014, Muscatine County District Court Judge Mary Howes sentenced JOSHUA CORWIN, DOB: 4/26/1982, of Davenport, to a sentence of life without the possibility of parole for the offense of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. The court also imposed sentences of imprisonment for Willful Injury and Theft in the Second Degree.
CORWIN had been found guilty at a jury trial which ended July 1, 2014. Evidence at trial showed that on May 15, 2013, CORWIN burst into the home of an ex-girlfriend and assaulted her. The victim suffered five facial fractures. CORWIN then forced the victim to engage in sexual intercourse. CORWIN arrived at the residence, located in rural Muscatine County, in a vehicle which he had stolen in Davenport.
The case was investigated by the Muscatine County Sheriff's Office. Also involved in the investigation were the Davenport Police Department and the East Moline (Illinois) Police Department.
"I am very pleased with this result," said Muscatine County Attorney Alan R. Ostergren. "The defendant has a lengthy history of violence. It is for the community's benefit that he cannot hurt anyone else in society again," Ostergren added.
