Prison sentence for felon in possession of firearm

Today, September 22, 2017, in Muscatine County District Court:

ANTHONY GREEN, 27, of Muscatine was sentenced after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that GREEN was found in possession of a handgun. GREEN had previously been convicted of a drug trafficking felony.

The Court imposed a prison sentence of a term not to exceed five years. The Court also sentenced GREEN for an unrelated case where he had been operating a motor vehicle while his privilege to do so was barred and for probation violation in a case where he had been sentenced for harassment.

Also occurring today:

NEIL RON BAZAN JR., 20, of Muscatine, pleaded guilty to going armed with intent. Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that BAZAN had fired a rifle during a confrontation involving several other people. The incident occurred on July 28, 2017, in the 400 block of West 3rd Street. No one was injured during the incident.

BAZAN will be sentenced November 3, 2017, at 9:00 a.m.

BRANDON LEE EDWIN SIMMONS, 19, of Muscatine, pleaded guilty to sexual abuse in the third degree. Investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that he had sexual intercourse with a 15 year old female. At the time SIMMONS was four years and three months older. SIMMONS will be sentenced November 3, 2017, at 9:15 a.m.
